Thank you for helping me reach my Sole Support fundraising goal! Sole Support raises funds that directly support local services for individuals and families living with Parkinson’s disease. This year we celebrate 15 years of this inspiring event which unites around celebrating our community.
Sole Support provides nearly 25% of the financial underpinning necessary for Parkinson’s Resources needs to provide education, support, and wellness classes for our loved ones. This event raises awareness for this disease and the urgency to funds the programs serving 13,000 households in Oregon and SW Washington.
Parkinson’s disease is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder in America, where more than 1,000,000 people live with a diagnosis. Every 9 minutes another is diagnosed. It is estimated that 25,000 live with this disease in our region. Currently there is no known cause nor cure. They say if you’ve seen one person with Parkinson’s, you’ve seen one person with Parkinson’s,” as the disease symptoms and progression is different for every patient. With so little known, this disease can be scary and isolating for so many.
That’s why I’m stepping out on Parkinson’s. I am committed to changing the landscape - bringing help and hope to those living with the disease. I am committed to ensuring no one has to face this disease alone.
The past few years have shown promising research and great advancements in care. However, there is no end to this disease on our immediate horizon.
Please consider walking with me or making a donation towards my efforts (or BOTH!). $15, $25, $50, or $500, whatever you are able to do! I've seen how PRO directs their funds to valuable services and encourage you to be as generous as you are able. It is not often we come across the chance to make a large difference that we can see here in our own backyard – helping our friends and neighbors live well with Parkinson’s.
We are walking again this year in support of Parkinson's Disease! It has been a productive year filled with great exercise lead by many talented and dedicated people. The results have been totally positive, as I continue to be fully active with no loss of capability. We hope you will help support us as we walk to raise money to hopefully someday find a cure for PD.
