Walk, Volunteer, Fundraise: I'd love to have you join me!

I certainly don't need to recount for you ALL the ways that COVID-19 impacted our lives. I suspect many people were even more impacted that I was - and I hope that during that time you had someone to lean on to ease and support you.  For many people reading this - it was Parkinson's Resources of Oregon (PRO) who was there for you - and now it is time that we step forward to ensure PRO will continue, without a beat, being there in times of need.

  • During quarantine, clients turned first to PRO for information about COVID - with questions whether people with PD have a higher risk than others. We took your calls.  More than 100+ every month!
  • Soon we all realized that no matter what, we needed to keep moving! - PRO was there for that also. Transitioning our free chair based program to a web-based class - and also - making connections to other wonderful instructors making sure to match PwP with classes to best meet immediate needs.
  • The need to connect with each other became more and more apparent with each passing day. More than 40 of our peer-led support groups transitioned to Zoom to ensure you had a safe and supportive place to "see" each other. Additionally, staff at PRO called more than 2500 households, just to check in and reduce isolation.
  • When the vaccine became available, PRO helped clients navigate the maze of information, in some cases even making shot appointments for those without any other means to do so. With the vaccine came a sense of progress and relief.

And, now... We make plans to gather. Yes, outdoors. Yes, with masks encouraged. As distanced as you like. But, we so look forward to this fall and a complete season of Sole Support for Parkinson's walks. Please. JOIN ME!

So. How do you help?  Walk with me or make a donation.  $10, $25, $50, or $500, whatever you are able to do!  I've seen how PRO directs their funds to valuable services and encourage you to be as generous as you are able!
